This has been an amazing fall here at John Wills Photography. Sooooooo many great families and soooo many great sessions. These sessions are made even better when we receive cards in the mail saying this ![]()
“Dear John,
We are absolutely ecstatic about our family photo and in particular, the gallery wrap. It will give us years of enjoyment as our family will certainly change over the next years and we will have this moment in time on our wall! We are considering ordering another gallery wrap of the 4 kids…..what a stunning photo. Thanks for capturing our lives in your photos. You’re right, we have amazing kids and we tell them every day!”
With thanks
Lisa and Robert

I am having a total blast hanging out with you and photographing your beautiful families….it has actually inspired me to photograph my own family a lot more. I still have a few families to get in before the white stuff starts to fly and everyone goes into hibernation

Well I am not to sure about what season it is right now in Ontario…….I was wearing jeans and a jacket last night on a family session ![]()
5 days ago I was photographing a wedding and was probably suffering from dehydration because it was so hot……crazy.
But the cooler temperatures sure make it nicer for family photos. I had an amazing night with 5 year old Riley and his beautiful family. I was warned ahead of time that Riley’s little brother Myles was very very shy…….well he hasn’t met this photographer yet. How does that saying go ” like putty in my hand”….all it took was me being a bit goofy (which is how I am all the time anyway), who knew that smelling a weed could be so funny?
Most of the night we just let these 2 boys play and have fun….but we did get a chance to take some really cool photos as well.
A big thanks to this beautiful family for a great fall….er….summer evening….. I had a blast

What a way to spend a beautiful summer morning. Yesterday I had the great pleasure in spending a morning with The Chris family. Duane, Carol and one year old Cory were superstars all morning. We had a great time just hanging out having a picnic, playing in the wet grass and of course playing a bit of Disk Golf ![]()
We also did a fun “smash the cake” session only it wasn’t done in the studio….we did it in the park and it was very very cool. Not sure who had more fun playing with the cake, the birthday girl or her parents?
Thanks so much for an incredible morning guys…..I am sure the ants are thanking you as well

Meet the Boznar Family ![]()
While I was spending some time at our cottage in The Muskokas I was asked to photograph this beautiful family at their summer retreat. Now I know you are supposed to separate your work from your family vacation but this hardly seemed like work. Hanging out and photographing The Boznars was a riot. My family and I actually ended up staying for lunch on their beach and having cold beer, BBQ burgers and shrimp……now that is a fun way to “work”. A big thanks to John, Anne, Amanda, Al, Quin, Monica, Rob, Maya and Nina (and the snapping turtle)….I had a wonderful time hanging with you at your beautiful cottage and beach. INTRODUCING…….. Amelia Marion Helkaa ![]()
Tod and Erin Helkaa brought their 11 day old baby in for some family and baby photos yesterday. Now usually when we photograph newborns they are suppose to sleep the entire time….but apparently Amelia didn’t get that memo. Mom and Dad worked great as a team and are incredible first time parents and we managed to get some cool photos. I had a blast hanging with this beautiful new family and will be doing a second part to the shoot in their home later this week….I can’t wait

The Pilskalnietis Family were in the house
Sarah and Mark brought their beautiful 7 month old boy William in for some family photos yesterday, thanks to Sarah’s Mom for the great Birthday gift.
Like most Dads ( and also this photographer ) Mark is not a big fan of having his photo taken….but as you can see by his smile it is quite obvious he loves being with his family. A big thanks to this amazing family for a great time in the studio and also the fun play time for William and my son Austin.

Spring is finally here ![]()
After a long couple weeks of rain, Mother Nature has finally shown us the sun. On Saturday night I met the beautiful Bot family out in the country for some fun family photos. This was their third time in 2 years coming to see me and I was really excited to see 2 year old Alice again. Wow is she ever growing up
I have had the great pleasure in photographing Alice as a newborn, when she turned one and now when she is two and it is really cool seeing her grow up. We spent a lot of time playing and just letting Alice dictate what we did. She was a trooper and in the end got her first lollipop as a special treat:)
Thanks so much Matt, Becky and Alice for a great evening.

Around this time of year I like many others tend to get a bit overwhelmed with things. The world just seems to speed up during the Holiday Season. Everyone is in a hurry, trying to get their last few things bought and wrapped. Parents are stressed at the financial strain of this time of year. Kids are crazy excited and a bit out of control (and some adults like me ). Maybe we should all just sit back take some time and breath and remember all the simple things in life and not how much we spend on one another. Sit down with your kids, play, sing, watch a Christmas movie, go for a family walk and look at all the beautiful Christmas Lights ( like my wife and I did last night) or just take some time to yourself and enjoy this beautiful time of year. You will be thankful you did.
Happy Holdidays Everyone
