Willsie’s Weekly Word

Willsie’s Weekly Word

Week of February 6th, 2017

For the last 2 weeks I have been really struggling to find something positive to post about. With all the negative crap going on in the world lately I have tried to stay away from social media and all things internet. I don’t watch the news anymore and listening to the radio is totally depressing.

So it took an amazing Super Bowl come back by the Patriots last night for me to snap out of the funk and write another positive post.

This weeks Willsie’s Word is “Team”.

“Team” as described by Wikipedia.

“A team is a group of people or other animals linked in a common purpose. Human teams are especially appropriate for conducting tasks that are high in complexity and have many interdependent subtasks.

A group does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.”

Last nights amazing 25 point come back by Tom Brady and his “Team” was nothing short of AMAZING.

Now Tom Brady will get a lot of the accolades for the win…… but lets look at it in depth.

First the Super Bowl Champs are the New England Patriots….. not the Tom Brady Team.

Tom is the quarterback and will arguably go down in history as the greatest quarterback or at lease in the top 2 or 3 to every play football. BUT…… Tom doesn’t run down the field and catch the ball that is thrown… he needs to have amazing athletes to run slants and hooks and get open. For these receivers to have time to get open Tom needs an incredible offensive line to protect him. Great so now Tom has time to look for a receiver and hopefully those receivers are open…. but who designed the routs for the receivers? It is not like the receivers are just running around…. they are told when and where to run too. These plays are designed by the coaching staff. The plays are practiced hundreds of times throughout the year along with hours of strength training and conditioning….which is what I think Atlanta was lacking in the end…. they just ran out of gas. So the strength and conditioning coaches played a big part of this team as well.

Lets talk about the athletes families for a bit. Almost every play would say that they couldn’t do what they do without the support of their family…… again these people are also part of the team.

Now we are talking about a professional sports team, but this also applies to you and I.

I am a full time professional photographer here in Guelph. I take some pretty photos and sell them to my clients. But I am not the only part of John Wills Photography.

I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without my amazing wife Kim and son Austin. Kim is the glue that keeps me together when things get busy and Austin is the joy that keeps me wanting to be a better person.

Also part of my team are the rest of my family. My mom Linda and her husband Rino, my sister Deb and the Freemans all play a huge part in my business. They are always there for support and encouragement.

My fellow Professional Photographers of Canada members and colleagues. I have many amazing photographer friends that help me out when I have questions or to bounce ideas off of…… and I hope they feel the same about me.

Also part of my team are the incredible printing companies I order from. My clients deserve the best possible prints to hang on their walls and I rely on you to help with that.

So to finish this up I want to give a HUGE shout out to Team John Wills Photography….. I wouldn’t be where I am today with out each and every one of you.

This week take a look at your “Team” and maybe take a minute and then them for what they do.

Have a fabulous week everyone.
